This art activity was created with special needs students in mind. It may take several sessions to complete depending on their attention span, fine motor skills and independence level.

Conversely, any student from pre-kindergarten to grade 5 (4 to 10 years old) will enjoy creating their own masterpiece while following our step-by-step instructions or by using the materials as they please.

Teaching Objectives

• Students will explore inspiration pieces to create a pop art apple using colourful tissue paper.
• Students will draw their own apple, tear, scrunch, and glue tissue paper to shape their artwork.
• Students will strengthen their fine motor skills as they manipulate different tools and materials.

This project comes with an extended learning opportunity to learn about the American artist Andy Warhol.

Additional information:

Basic materials such as pencils, coloring pencils, markers, scissors, liquid glue, and glue sticks must be provided by students. A real apple will be necessary to practice observational drawing. The materials provided are for the main art project only.
