Students will use different types of materials like self-adhesive glitter paper, hard tempera cakes and liquid gouache combined with easy art techniques to create a sparkling composition of a spooky Halloween landscape inspired by the whimsical style of Tim Burton. Showing the easy-to-follow step-by-step process filled with images and pictograms on your smart TV, will help guide your students into creating their own masterpiece.

While working on this project, students will be practicing various life skills from setting up and organizing their workspace, to cleaning up once finished. They will also work on their executive functioning skills by following the steps required, and by planning and making decisions related to the production of their art

With an emphasis on the open-ended artistic process over any final product, this project allows children to freely explore multiple ideas without boundaries. The raised textures stimulate tactile awareness while the bright colours captivate the senses as they bring their imaginative visions to life.

Teaching Objectives

• Students will explore inspiration pieces to create a mixed media composition of a haunted house with gnarled trees using liquid and solid tempera paint.
• Students will spatially organize elements (haunted house, trees, moon) to produce their art.
• Students will strengthen their fine motor skills as they manipulate various tools and materials.
